Emberlily

Sold

Scorched earth in the name of progress

Our minds raced, our hearts in distress

The digital era, the promise of connection

At the extreme loss of human affection

They built at lighting speed

Abandoned the planted seed

Metal and plastic outnumber the trees

And it’s been ages since the birds and the bees

Still within the sandy lands

Mother earth opens her hands

Sprouting beauty to remind us all

To hold what’s natural before we fall

Emberlily grows from ash and sand

Forcing its way to stabilize the land
